Read + Review: Arrows by Melissa Gorzelanczyk

20734033In order to complete his training to become a full god, Aaryn, son of Eros, must make Karma Clark and her homecoming date, Danny Bader, fall in love. In an attempt to shoot both of them, Aaryn finds out too late that the other arrow in his quiver is useless, leaving only Karma shot with the love arrow. His mistake is eventually discovered and he is sent to Earth to right his wrong and make up for the damage that has changed Karma’s life forever. Danny isn’t a loving boyfriend toward Karma, but Aaryn needs him to love Karma as much as she loves him in order to fix Aaryn’s mistake and keep him on Olympus.

The novel was very heartwarming and so gripping that it had me hooked from the very first page. Gorzelanczyk wrote the entire story beautifully and executed it perfectly. The novel is full of fun, heart, humor, and sweetness, while tackling serious issues such as teen pregnancy, family, and the importance of not giving up. The author does a phenomenal job with taking the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride throughout the entire novel. Through its power and honesty, I believe that the book will give young people an accurate portrayal of what being a teen parent entails. Overall, I truly enjoyed reading the book and would highly recommend it to everyone.

The most memorable thing about the book for me was the premise itself. The combination of elements of Greek mythology along with the contemporary drama of Teen Mom made the story incredibly unique.
