Witchland is a country on the verge of war as a 20 year treaty is ending. Safiya is a truthwitch who has the rare power to tell a truth from a lie, a power monarchs would kill to manipulate. Her threadsister, Iseult, is a threadwitch who cannot access her full power. Together, they race to escape capture from a deadly bloodwitch under the employ of a powerful Guildmaster. Prince Merik, a cunning ship captain and windwitch, reluctantly helps them evade capture as he desperately seeks to secure trade so that his people will not starve.
I liked that Truthwitch was action-packed and featured elemental magic and a steamy romance. Also, I loved how there were two strong, confident, and kick-butt female protagonists. Safiya and Iseult share an epic friendship and balance each other perfectly. However, the author does not give a lot of background information as to the setting of the book so the world building was not that good. This made it difficult for me to truly immerse myself into the book.
Overall, the most memorable thing about the book was the amazing friendship between Safiya and Iseult. Although their personalities are very different, they balance and complete each other. Together, they are unstoppable.
