Creative Clothing Construction v1

Tuesday, April 7, 2015; 10:30am—3:30pm @ Twin Hickory Library
(During Spring Break)

Turn old books and newspapers into high fashion!

The focus of this five-hour workshop is to give students, grades 6 – 12, the opportunity to create a wearable piece of art that explores cultural trends, nontraditional materials, and fine art processes. Similar to the Project Runway design style, students make wearable art by reconstructing clothing, found objects, and recycled materials. Inspiration comes from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts collection, artists, and fashion designers. Workshop attendance also gives students a snapshot of the annual Teen Stylin’ runway show held each year in December and open to all teens living in Virginia. This program is presented through the VMFA’s Art and Education Division. There are 15 spots in this workshop. Please register in person, via phone at 290-9200×5 or online at henricolibrary.org. Registration beings 3/7/2015.
Please bring a lunch and snacks!
