Pre-Pub Teen Book Review — Loot: How to Steal a Fortune, by Jude Watson

Twelve-year-old March has spent his life accompanying his father around the world stealing jewelry only to watch him die with the last words, “find jewels.” He later finds out that “jewels” is actually his twin. Together, they must obtain the seven moonstones but encounter many obstacles and betrayals while also making new friends along the way.

Loot is a great and fast-paced book that is perfect for middle school kids. It is full of action with a plot that includes jewelry heists, curses, and murder. The book is very well written with interesting twists and clever tricks. Loot is by Jude Watson, a well-established author who is known for writing similar thriller/adventure books. Overall, Loot is recommended for kids looking for a good read with lots of action!

This review is based on an Advance Reading Copy (ARC) that publishers make available to libraries and professional reviewers before a book hits the stores. Our local Teen Galley groups read and review ARCs to discover the next big thing in teen fiction. Loot will be in Henrico Libraries later this summer.
