The Boy Project was about a 7th grade girl who was tired of being a loser. She hasn’t had any boyfriends, not even in the 1st grade (which apparently counts with her), so she uses the Scientific Method, forms a hypothesis, and conducts research about how she can get a boyfriend. She goes through a lot, what with the grade’s most popular kid and resident bully starting to realize that she’s up to something.
I absolutely loved Kara (the main character) and what she did. It just goes to show you that science CAN actually help you in real life. There wasn’t anything that I disliked about the book, the author dived right into the story straight from the beginning and didn’t take up a lot of pages by describing the situation. I really enjoyed how the book was written in ‘diary style.’ I loved how she was soo creative, and occasionally the instructions to her creations showed up in the book, so I could try it myself.
One of the most memorable things from the book is how she ends up going to her older sister for some help, and her older sister is actually very kind to her. While some may have thought that this was very cliché, I beg to differ.
