This book is about a girl and her family being deported from their homes. The girl, Lina, and her family are sold into slavery. This book is also about the troubles they face, through the rough conditions that they are sold into.
I really enjoyed this story. This story made me think harder about what these people had to live through. I liked how some of the events in this book actually happened in real life. It gave me a chance to see the hardships that the people went through. I did not like how the ending of this book was rushed a little bit.
A memorable part was when lina’s mother dies and they open up her suitcase, which was full of clothing and personal items.
